Downloading Image from Google Drive

Sending high quality images around the internet can be a challenge at times. Email companies limit the amount you can send in a single email, limiting users to between 15-20 MB depending on company. High Resolution graphics can be on the large side when uncompressed and made for print. Compressing them, you lose quality. So we need a place to upload that we can place files to be downloaded. Google drive is a popular choice as they are affordable, and everyone knows Google. However people have differing levels of Tech Comfort Levels, and helping people understand how to use their device can be a challenge with all of the different options available.

Personally with Red Fox Indy we use computers for everything, only using the phone app to send files when away from the office. Downloading via the computer is the easiest and best option. You just have to right click on the image and hit Save

Troubleshooting Tips

  • If the Download button doesn’t appear: try opening the link in the Google Drive app or Safari/Chrome instead of an in-app browser (like Instagram or Messenger).

  • If the file downloads as a zip: that’s normal for folders. Just open it from your Files app.

  • If your phone says “Can’t preview”: it usually means it’s a folder or zipped file — still downloadable.
